Boost Your Circulation for a Noticeable Glow

If you have tried every product on the market and still feel as if your skin is on the dull side, the answer may be as simple as increasing your blood circulation. Poor circulation can cause blotchy, uneven skin. Here are some ways of boosting circulation for a better complexion and more youthful appearance.

Exercise
Aerobic exercise increases heart rate which, in turn, increases blood circulation. Blood vessels dilate during exercise increasing the circulation to your face and other parts of your body. Try to get at least 30 minutes of exercise five times weekly, focusing on forms that use large muscle groups, such as rowing, cycling, swimming, and brisk walking.

Do a Handstand
Want to get someone’s attention? Just sneak in the next room really quickly and do a handstand. You’ll come back looking ten times better! Handstands employ gravity to direct blood to the head and face. According to Yoga Journal, “reverse gravity” improves concentration, mental clarity, respiration and elimination in addition to circulation. Balance a problem? No sweat! You can lean on the wall. Try to hold the position for one or two minutes Practice daily.

Massage
According to the University of Minnesota, massage improves lymph and blood circulation and assists the delivery of nutrients and oxygen to cells. This leads to improved cell health and efficiency. Here’s a quick tutorial: Stroke your entire face using both your hands, from your forehead down to the cheeks and neck. After a few minutes of this, roll your knuckles across your cheeks, forehead and chin. Remember to be gentle and avoid excessive pressure.

Diet
Skip the processed food and keep saturated fat and cholesterol to a minimum. Make sure to get a lot of vitamin C which improves circulation and maintains blood vessel tone. Aloe vera juice is a great source of skin healthy nutrients.

Skin care
Incorporate retinoids into your skin care routine. Retinoids are a type of vitamin A used in anti aging because of their ability to decrease the appearance of wrinkles, tighten skin, and boost product of collagen. Retinoids also owe their effectiveness to their ability to improve circulation of blood and even help to create new blood vessels.
