Chubby Cheeks Aren’t Just For Babes

Chubby Cheeks Aren’t Just For Babes

Every one of us must have had one.  The uncle or aunt that came to visit when we were young and greeted us by pinching our cheeks so hard that we were left with white marks when they removed their fingers.  If we were not scarred physically by this Vulcan Death Grip on our faces, we were certainly mentally scarred for the rest of our lives.  Chubby cheeks have had negative associations for many of us.  Not only do they remind us of creepy relatives, but we also tend to connect them to being overweight and looking babyish.  In fact, many must have spent a good portion of their adolescence sucking them in for photos in hopes of looking more adult.  Indeed, chubby cheeks must surely be the cause of dysmorphia in a good percentage of the population.

But like the saying goes, you don’t miss ’em ’til they’ve gone away.  As subcutaneous fat reduces with age, cheeks start to sag, resulting in an older appearance.  We find ourselves longing for the return of our old adversaries: the chubby cheeks.  So for those of you who are longing for our pudgy face to return, without resorting to fillers and injections, here are some ways you may be able to get your wish.

Facial Yoga
Cheek presses and lifts can produce collagen and elastin to lift hollow cheeks.   You can start with making firm outward circles for 1-2 minutes under your cheekbones, on your smile furrows, and on the hinges of your jaw.  One  spot at a time, ideally.

Blow Up Balloons
Who knew getting ready for birthday parties could make you look so good?  Cancel the air pump.  Just blow into a balloon and keep your cheeks puffs up for 1 minute.  Do this 5 or 6 times a day.

Olive Oil
Taken internally or externally, olive oil contains healthy fats that help to keep your skin healthy.  It also works as a moisturizer and prevents wrinkles and fine lines.  Just take one tablespoon extra virgin olive oil once a day orally or warm it up and massage it into your cheeks for 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.

Aloe Vera
Is there anything this stuff can’t do? The antioxidants and skin tightening properties in aloe vera are known to promote skin elasticity and boost collagen production. Massage aloe vera into your face using circular motions for ten minutes.  Let it sit for another 10 minutes and rinse.

Fenugreek contains vitamins and antioxidants to prevent damage and promote full skin.  Mix 1 tablespoon of the powder with a little water and apply to cheeks.  Leave it on for ten minutes and rinse.  Do this once a day.

Shea Butter
The fatty acids in shea butter can improve the elasticity off your skin while the vitamin E  will tighten your skin. Rub shea butter into your cheeks and massage it in in an upward circular motion for ten minutes.  Allow it to sit for 15 minutes and then wash it off.  Enjoy your chubby cheeks and avoid grabby relatives.
