Also known as White Zin, White Zinfandel is a pink-colored wine that many either love or loathe. It’s a light and sweet wine with fruity aromas, and it’s incredibly budget-friendly. White Zin is best when served chilled. If you’re planning on giving it a shot whether you’ve never had it or it’s been awhile, the following are some White Zin and food pairings to keep in mind.
Brie on a Baguette
This is absolutely one of my favorite sandwiches, and it’s one that you can pair with White Zin. Toast up a baguette then top it with spicy golden mustard, thin slices of a skinned Golden Delicious apple, dried cranberries and raisins, brie, and romaine. Warm it up a bit and you’re all set.
Honey Sriracha Chicken Wings
There is nothing, and I mean nothing, like digging into a plate of honey Sriracha chicken wings. These wings are incredibly easy to make, and the best part is that you can even make them right in the slow cooker so you barely even have to do anything at all. Don’t forget a little blue cheese dressing, celery, carrot, and White Zin on the side!
Picture this: it’s the end of the week, you’re tired, and you’re thrilled with the idea of having off for two days. Not exactly a difficult image to conjure up, right? Now incorporate a big, juicy bacon cheeseburger into those thoughts along with a glass of White Zin on the side. The end of your week just got a whole lot better. You don’t even have to make the burger if you don’t want to! Go ahead and pick it up from a restaurant and stop off for a bottle of wine. You’ve earned it!
You’ve probably had grilled eggplant at some point, but have you ever tried it with BBQ sauce? It’s fantastic, and the spicier the sauce, the better. Throw some diced tomatoes on top as well. It all might sound a bit odd, but it works. Whether you eat it as is or throw it onto a sandwich, it can pair well with a White Zin.
BBQ Pineapple Pizza
Make your pizza dough, then throw on a layer of your favorite barbecue sauce. Next, put on grilled chicken, red onion, pineapple, and arugula, follow that up with mozzarella cheese, then bake until the crust is thoroughly cooked. While it’s baking, pour yourself a glass of White Zin, put your feet up, and relax.
Now that you have some White Zin and food pairings to consider, it’s time to get cooking (or ordering takeout!) and heading over to the liquor store. Considering how low cost the wine is, the good news is that you can splurge on the food and still not break the bank. By the way, if you want to chill your wine super quick, fill an ice bucket half way with cold water, throw in some salt and swirl it around, then put your bottle in the center and surround it with ice. It shouldn’t take long before it’s a perfectly chilled temperature.
